Here we are a few weeks into the New Year. How many resolutions have you broken so far? If you’re like 75% of the population you’ve most likely pledged to lose 10 pounds, if not more, in the coming year. This is a smart goal to have. Your body will thank you.
Since you’ve planned on losing Fat this year you’ve no doubt done some research on it. You’ve picked a diet plan, thrown out every piece of chocolate in the house, and bought new sneakers and a kettlebell. You’re ready for battle. But are you? Do you know the three essential things you must do if you want to finally, once and for all, lose the Fat?
Learn the truth about food. You think you’ve heard it all and know the good, bad and ugly when it comes to proper nutrition? The truth is we have been lied to, or at the very least – greatly misinformed, about what we should and shouldn’t put into our bodies. The truth is our bodies have been designed to function in certain ways and in order to function properly; bodies need the right kind of fuel. The right kind of fuel is never created by man. If it’s wrapped in shiny paper, can be toasted or frosted, and there’s a commercial on TV for it – stay away from it. Far away. Unless of course you want to become diseased and miserable, then by all means eat whatever you’d like.
Learn to like discomfort. There’s no way around it; if you want to lose Fat and become healthier, it’s going to take some work and discomfort. Whether it’s a mild discomfort, like you’d rather have the brownie than the blueberries, or an intense discomfort, like the shaking in your legs while trying to complete a 3 mile hike, discomfort is going to become a part of your life, so you might as well make friends with it.
Learn to like yourself. If you don’t like yourself, let alone love yourself, you don’t have a candy bar’s chance at a fat camp of ever losing Fat and keeping it off. Seriously, if you don’t think you’re worth it then you’ll never put forth the effort it takes to gain control over you own body.
I don’t care what guru you want to follow or what aerobics class you want to take, if you don’t learn the truth about food, learn to like discomfort, and most importantly learn to like yourself, you will continue to struggle and be frustrated with your Fat loss goals.
