Losing Fat on a treadmill may not be as easy as just hopping on and going for it, you really do need to make sure you work with it carefully and properly to achieve the results you want. It seems very simple to adjust the speed or incline and then either walk or run your way to a better healthy body. Most people think that is all there is to it, but they are not getting the results they wanted. In fact, there is more to using a treadmill than simply turning it on and walking; if done right, you will find you can walk farther for longer and get a stronger body and lose Fat more effectively.
Making sure your body is balanced whiles on the treadmill is very important to begin with. Using your arms to balance yourself is not a good idea, as your arms will end up becoming strained and tired and you can end up hurting your muscles. Letting your arms swing freely exactly as you would if you were walking, running or jogging outside is the best way. Raising your arms in a position they would not normally be in will cause tension and make your treadmill experience uncomfortable. Bear in mind you can also be affecting the circulation in your arms adversely by holding them up for too long whiles using the treadmill.
It is also important to get your footwork right when using a treadmill. Think about your feet, many people will run or jog with a heavy stride that can be uncomfortable and that puts too much pressure on your feet and knees. This stress is also felt on the back which if not corrected can lead to immense pain when running.
Whiles on the treadmill, make sure you focus on walking or running on the balls and heels of your feet.
If you run on the balls of your feet you will find you are much more comfortable on your feet and you can run for longer distances. Using proper technique on the treadmill will ensure you are not hurting yourself and will continue to lose Fat effectively.
Another important tip to remember is making sure you protect your hips. You do not want to develop strange motions while walking on a treadmill. When you are walking down the street on a hill or flat land, think about how you would normally walk; duplicate that action by walking normally. There is no need to adjust your walking style to fit the treadmill machine. Keep an upright straight posture with your back and hips, relax your shoulders and hold them naturally – this will keep undue stress off your body and give you an effective treadmill workout.
Once you have learned to walk or run on a treadmill it will become second nature to jump on a treadmill and exercise.
Always take the time to make sure you are performing your exercise properly every time you get on the treadmill. With the proper form and technique you will soon be using the treadmill to get in the best shape of your life.
