Finding the Motivation You Need to Lose Fat
Forget the fear tactics. It is easy to think you must “scare” yourself into losing Fat by telling yourself all of the horrible things that will happen if you keep carrying around this extra Fat. For instance, you might give yourself an ultimatum…either you lose the Fat or you die too young of heart disease. This fear tactic can get you off the couch initially and it feels like real motivation but research and real life shows that this type of motivation falls flat.
The problem with fear tactics are that they become too overwhelming to think about and you go into denial and return to your old habits.
So how do you get motivated and stay motivated? The answer is to shift your focus to the positive. What I mean by that is to consciously redirect your mind to think about all of the good things that losing this Fat will bring into your life. Spend time thinking about how good it will feel to walk around in shorts or how much energy you will have and you will find that you naturally move toward making this goal a reality with much less effort.
Will you at times feel a pull back to negative thoughts? Certainly, this is simply human nature and for those times it is important to have a support network made up of others who are pursuing a similar Fat loss goal or a mentor who can help guide you.
With a positive attitude and ongoing support finding the motivation you need to lose Fat comes easily.
